Japan-Stores User's Guide:

You can be done with your store in minutes or take as long as you like. This guide will get you started. There are some important rules below but don't worry too much about studying the technical details. Chances are good you will figure out how to use these features easily by experimenting. Images and text can always be changed after you add them. Don't be afraid to try using all of the features available.

• Step 1:
  1. Login with your assigned username and password on the main page.

 

• Step 2:
  1. Locate your store and edit the title and description.
  2. Enter your store by clicking on the image or the title.

  The title should be your website or store title. For example: "Japan-Stores".
  The description should explain what you offer. Try to point out what you do differently than most other sites.

 

• Step 3
  1. Add items by using the <<admin options>> drop-down box.
  2. Edit or delete items using the <<edit item>> drop-down box.
  3. Don't forget to delete the "Opening Soon" image we placed in your store.

 

Adding Items, descriptions and links:

When adding one item the window shown below will appear which shows all fields to be filled out. You can fill out the information now or simply keep adding items and come back later to edit the text. This is how the fields should be used:

Caption:

This should be brief. Just a few words to describe the item.

Purchase:

This is where your link goes. The link must be in HTML as shown below. Here is an example of a proper HTML link to our own home page.

Enter your own links exactly like this into the "Purchase" field. Replace the URL and text with your own. Tags such as <b> (bold), colors, or font and font size changes are not allowed.

Description:

This is where you describe the item in detail using as much text as you like.

If you have no image for an item:

All items must begin by uploading images. If you wish to add an item and have no image then you first need to add our "No Photo" image. You may then add your link and description to this image. Get the "No Photo" image here.

Image size and format:

Images should be JPEG or GIF formats. Uploaded images are automatically resized to a maximum dimension of 400 pixels and 75 kilobytes. This is by design.

Choosing your highlight item (cover photo):

You can choose which item appears on the main page to draw visitors into your store. Once inside your store choose "Highlight Item" from the <<edit item>> drop-down list below any item. That item is now the cover photo for your store.

Adding many items quickly:

1. Enter your store and click the <<admin options>> drop-down box. Select "Add Multiple Items" from the list. This will allow you to add up to 10 items at a time or transfer images directly from a web address. Don't worry about adding all of the descriptions and links yet.

2. After you have added many items you will need to edit the text and link field quickly too. Do this by going back to the <<admin options>> drop-down box and selecting "Edit Captions". This will show all of your items and all of the fields in a list view which is easy and fast to edit.
